PIDX International Releases Supply Notification Standard
June 26th, 2019
Houston, TX – June 26, 2019 – The Petroleum Industry Data Exchange, Inc. (PIDX) recently released the Supply Notification standard, available royalty-free at http://www.pidx.org/supply-notification/.
This standard provides a proactive means of communication among suppliers, trading partners, and terminal operators to notify when there has been an event that has occurred, or may occur, that could prevent the ability to load at a given terminal. Supply events are important to all parties in the supply chain because they impact their ability to sell and lift product at a terminal. Proactive notification improves the efficiencies for dispatching trucks to terminals where product is available.
“Improved communication between suppliers, trading partners and customers on supply issues enable all parties in the supply chain to proactively respond and improve decision making to avoid costly events at the terminal,” said Lisa Rotunno, of DTN and immediate past chair of the PIDX Downstream Work Group.
Recognizing the complex and costly manual process of transmitting supply-related communications across the downstream fuels supply chain, the PIDX Downstream Work Group led the efforts to develop the Supply Notification standard. The standard offers planned and unplanned supply notifications to enable consistent and efficient communication between terminal operators and suppliers
“Creating a common, unified means of communication is the core of PIDX and it’s what standards do,” said Elena Mereanu of Transport4 and Chair of the Downstream Work Group. “Communication is one of the most vital topics in downstream. Our communication can only improve by working together.”
PIDX is committed to developing and publishing royalty-free standards that support the efficient exchange of electronic data within the industry. These standards are the product of digital collaboration, spearheaded by PIDX’s Work Groups and Project Teams, within a strict anti-trust framework
Over 150 industry-specific standards are available for download at www.pidx.org.
